ELDERS

Steve was born in Santa Cruz in 1971, grew up in the San Lorenzo Valley, and attended TBC as a student in high-school. After graduating from SLV High in 1989, Steve attended the Master’s University, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies in 1997. Steve and Wendy got married in 1996, and he attended Westminster Seminary California (Escondido), where he graduated with an MA in Historical Theology in 2001. They returned to Felton in 2001 to serve together at Trinity Bible Church. Steve became the Pastor of TBC in 2003. Wendy serves in church administration, singing and playing on the worship team, and ministering to the young moms and families in our church. Steve serves on the Executive Board of the Fellowship of Independent Reformed Evangelicals (FIRE). Steve and Wendy have 3 sons: Justin, Travis, and Spencer, who also serve the church faithfully in many ways.

Nick was born and raised in the SLV, and grew up as a youth at Trinity Bible Church. He and Allison were married in 2008, and brought their family back to TBC in 2021. Nick quickly became involved in the music ministry of the church, became a Deacon, and eventually an Elder. Nick heads the TBC worship team as they lead the congregation to sing praises to God on the Lord’s Day, and works as a manager at a local water district. He and Allison have 4 children: Theo, April, Lucy, and Arthur.

Jon and Mirka came to Trinity Bible Church in January 2025, after Jon’s having served faithfully as an Elder at a nearby sister church. The Bartz family came to TBC along with a number of saints from their former church, and quickly integrated into the life of the church, and into TBC’s leadership. Jon grew up in the SLV area, and Mirka in Castro Valley. They currently live in Scotts Valley. Jon is a general contractor and builder, and Mirka teaches 4th grade at St. Abraham’s Classical Christian Academy in Aptos. They have been married since 2016, and have 4 daughters: Lily, Elana, Xenia, and Joey (pictured) .

DEACONS

Larry and CarolAnne Vargas came to Trinity Bible Church on July 28, 2005. At this time, the church was called the First Valley Baptist Church of San Lorenzo Valley. Larry & CarolAnne were drawn to the church by the love of the Lord which so richly surrounded them. After a short time, they joined the fellowship and became deacon and deaconess. CarolAnne was mercifully taken home to be with the Lord in January, 2025. Larry lives in Boulder Creek, and loves to serve the Lord and His Church in many ways.

Larry came to TBC invited by a friend through attendance at one of the weekday programs, the C.S. Lewis book club. Larry began attending the Sunday services and found that the good teaching and strong community of TBC were what he was desiring in a home church. Over time, Larry began to do minor facility maintenance on the campus and help with church family meals. With his background in sound engineering, he oversaw the church sound systems. Because Larry was already caring for church family and serving in many ways, TBC leadership asked Larry to become a Deacon.

The Jones came to TBC along with a number of saints from their former church, and quickly integrated into the life of the church, and into TBC’s leadership. Steve was born in Tennessee and then raised in the California Bay Area. Mary was born in San Mateo, and grew up on the peninsula. They have lived in Boulder Creek since 2019. They’ve been married since 1976, and have three sons: Aaron, Adam, and Andrew, and 8 grandchildren: Ryan, Seth, Kylie, Samara, Avery, Shingni, Riley, and Shira.
